Many hotels are starting to advertise ‘packages’ especially as Easter is less than a month away, school holidays in April and the thought that the long, busy, hot summer season will be ending in the near future. Don’t forget though that Central Otago will enjoy their “leaf peepers”. Your romantic weekend could involve a tour of the autumnal leaves through Arrowtown and Queenstown!  If you would like some more ideas for your ‘package task’ you could also look to some of the Northern Hemisphere countries who are promoting end of winter packages. For example check out some of the packages that luxury hotel company Ritz Carlton are offering at the moment. I also liked this novel idea for a “Leapend

Selling – the act of offering things for purchase? A simplistic definition which we will build upon. In the travel and tourism industry its more about delivering happiness, fulfillment, enrichment and dreams.

In your first session we will be looking at buying and selling.

Above is a slide presentation from slideshare. If you click on the word Slideshare (at the bottom right hand corner) you can view it. However if you want to download it – Click this link to download the original power point presentation.

The following activity will examine and build upon your knowledge of The Tourism Product

Welcome back

Welcome to our new blog Reception Services – a broad based specialty, designed to provide tourism operators with skilled front-line staff.

This blog will complement two of the courses you will be completing – Selling (Lynn Brandham) and Fidelio (Rachel Byars). Both Lynn and Rachel will keep you up to date with what is happening in the industry that you should be aware of and anything you are required to know or complete. Its a good tool if you miss class and need to know what has been covered.

I hope you all had a good holiday and are refreshed and ready for learning. It will be a busy year with the emphasis being on quality of work completed and handed in. At Level 5 we have an expectation that all work handed in will show you have used various  sources of information and have taken the time to undertake research. In other words its your opportunity to show us the calibre of work you are capable of completing.

If you look at the top right hand corner you will see there is a highlighted link “Course Outline” take a look at this then when you want to come back to the blog press the back arrow.

So lets get right into it. Enjoy.
